Evolution are set to expand their already enviable portfolio of crossover slot to live-action game shows with the addition of one of NetEnt’s most successful character’s, the Spanish Conquistador, Gonzo, in Gonzo’s Quest Treasure Hunt Live!
The original Gonzo’s Quest slot has been a permanent fixture among the world’s top 10 games ever since it launched back in 2013. Given its continued popularityand the interactive possibilities of Gonzo himself, employing the services of the game’s chirpy hero is a genius move on Evolution’s part.
The live studio action takes place in a semi-digital mock up of an Incan Temple within the mythical lost city of El Dorado. The live studio host, replete in Indiana Jones attire, is aided and abetted by his diminutive dancing digital sidekick, Gonzo.
The original game’s famous wall with its avalanching stone façade has been appropriated and extended upwards and across to facilitate the exciting new live action Treasure Hunt.
In a nutshell, the game involves betting on which stones you think are going to appear on the shuffled game wall and where they are going to appear. Prior to the reveal, a number of prizes and multipliers are dropped onto the wall with the potential to increase any prizes you might win.
See below for a more detailed breakdown of a single game of Gonzo’s Quest Treasure Hunt Live!
The first step is to place your bets. Six coloured stones appear in the betting grid at the front of the screen in ascending order of value (1x, 2x, 4x, 8x, 20x, 65x). The higher value the stone, the less often it appears on the 7x10 (70 stone) gameboard.
Betting takes place in 2 stages:
The total cost of your bet equates to the total amount wagered on the stones multiplied by the number of board picks selected. For example, if you bet €5 on the x3 stone and €2 on the 20x stone and selected 4 picks then the total bet would be (€5 + €2) x 4 = €28.
Once the betting round is complete, the wall shuffles the stones, and all values are hidden. At this point each player selects their own picks by clicking over a stone for each pick. These picks are shown on your screen as hand prints.
Next, Gonzo springs into life to the left of the game wall, slots his big key into the keyhole next to the wall and turns it to initiate the Prize Drop section of the game. Up to 7 prize drops occur per game and involve bonus prizes sliding along the prize reel above the main game wall and dropping down onto a reel below, wherever there is a space for it to drop.
Bonus prizes stop at random stones on the reel, adding between 3-100 to that stone’s value. Some bonus prizes are multipliers of between 2x – 10x, which can multiply the value of all visible values on the wall. However, the multiplier will only increase the values if there is an opening in the row below the multiplier. Finally, there is the possibility of a Re-Drop symbol appearing on the prize reel, which initiates a new Prize Drop. Up to 10 Re-Drops may occur in a single game. The Prize Drop ends when a prize stops on one randomly selected stone in the column in which they were dropped. At its best, the Prize Drop can increase the value of a single stone on the wall up to 20,000.
Finally, after the Prize Drop is complete, the wall is revealed. If you have picked a stone which is revealed to contain one of the values you initially picked then you receive the value of that stone, including any bonus prizes and multipliers it mayhave picked up along the way.
There seems very little to stop Gonzo’s Quest Treasure Hunt Live from being anything other than a smash hit. The game is instantly recognisable, features a beloved character from one of most popular slots of all time, and blends seamlessly into the live game show format. Gonzo was born to be a game show sidekick, and we look forward to endless hours watching him do his thing whilst placing our own bets. Another instant winner from Evolution gaming in partnership with NetEnt.
